Footage is shown of Andre The Giant falling victim to Sgt. Slaughter's cobra clutch which resulted in Slaughter becoming the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. After the match, Slaughter displayed his vicious side that hadn't been since his days in the Triangle of Terror when he viciously attacked Andre after the match. Since then it has been revealed that Slaughter has in fact reunited with his Triangle of Terror cohort Col. Mustafa, a man that has been lobbying for Slaughter to rejoin his faction ever since the WWE 2K15 era.

Slaughter wants to make it known that he is not anti-American. He is actually as patriotic as ever. It's just that sometimes you need to shake hands with powerful people who are perceived as evil in order to protect the greater good. In this case, the WWE Intercontinental Championship was in the evil clutches of the French Andre The Giant and an unstoppable force or immovable object of Andre's magnitude had to be taken care of and the WWE Intercontinental Championship had to come back home to America and Slaughter feels that he achieved that.

The WWE Universe should be praising him, not booing him. He promises to carry his very first Intercontinental Championship with honor and integrity, in the name of the USA and with assistance of people like the honorable Col. Mustafa!

The promo gets heated as Orton says that there won't be any doubt that Jericho and him will meet again in a match. It appears that Jericho has subtly succeeded in his mind games to get another match with the WWE United States Champion. Insults are thrown from Orton's end which prompts Jericho to lay him out with a cheap shot. The segment ends in a brawl.

No one has seen all of the hard work and training that Coach Bob Backlund has been putting Darren Young through but tonight could possibly be the night where Darren shows the world how hard he has been training when he goes to battle and holds his own with greats like “The Game” Triple H, “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev and “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus. Coach Bob hypes up Darren Young who says that tonight “Mr. No Days Off” is about to break the internet with the biggest victory of his career.

Triple H acknowledges that The Authority haven't been as mighty as they used to be following WrestleMania but they've been simply biding their time and plotting their resurgence. Footage is shown of The Miz picking up a huge victory over John Cena earlier this month on Monday Night RAW. Cena would go on to challenge Miz to a rematch who would accept the challenge for Battleground, wanting the chance to defeat John Cena one more time on a big Pay-Per-View stage. Two straight victories over John Cena would no doubt do major things for Miz's career such as big money main event matches and even opportunities at the WWE Championship. Will tonight be Miz's night or will “Big Match John” pick up the win tonight?

Match #4

After defeating “The Boss” Sasha Banks and winning back the WWE Women's Championship last month at WWE Money in the Bank, it seemed as though Charlotte's rivalry with Sasha had come to a conclusion. However, this would not prove to be the case as “The Boss” reemerged on RAW this past week alongside a new danger in Nia Jax who was drafted to RAW from NXT in the WWE Draft. Jax and Banks went on to make a statement at Charlotte's expense which would lead RAW ComMissioner, Stephanie McMahon to make a tag team match for Battleground featuring Nia and Sasha taking on Charlotte who has a surefire tag team partner in her protege, Dana Brooke. Will Nia and Sasha make a statement tonight with a victory over the WWE Women's Champion Charlotte?

Match #5
Tag Team Match
Charlotte & Bayley (w/Ric Flair & Dana Brooke) vs Nia Jax & Sasha Banks

Last month on SmackDown, Jack Swagger would find much needed career revitalization with a major upset victory over The Wyatt Family's monster, Braun Strowman that qualified Swagger to enter the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WWE Money in the Bank. Although he did not go on to win the Money in the Bank contract, Swagger displayed a great showing and would find the spotlight once again on him after years of being on the back burner. Swagger would utilize this spotlight time for everything it was worth by challenging “The Beast” Brock Lesnar to a match at WWE Battleground. A tremendously bold move and major wager that holds big implications for Swagger's future. Although Swagger has been spending his time training harder than he's ever have, many have written Swagger off, believing that a mauling from “The Beast” is imminent. Can Swagger shock the world tonight? Or will “The Beast” once again display his dominance?

Match #6

By defeating his fellow Shield brethren Roman Reigns in the Triple Threat WWE Championship match last week on SmackDown Live premiering on Tuesday nights, the WWE Champion Dean Ambrose now has one form of opposition left in the form of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles. This is a rematch of their match last month at WWE Money in the Bank where Styles defeated Ambrose to become the new WWE Champion. The WWE Championship has encountered many twists and turns since that has led Dean and AJ to a very similar position they found themselves last month at Money in the Bank. Can “The Phenomenal One” once again defeat Ambrose to regain the WWE Championship? Or will “The Lunatic Fringe” defeat AJ Styles and put him in the rear view mirror? Something Dean has done in his rivalry with “The Beast” Brock Lesnar in the past.
