Last week on Nitro, Ricky Steamboat '94 delivered some payback against Bret “Hitman” Hart '98 before their match as “The Dragon” stormed the ring and attacked “The Hitman”. However, Bret would turn the tide and defeat the WCW United States Champion by submission with the sharpshooter, thus making a claim for the United States Championship. Tonight, Steamboat challenges Bret Hart to a rematch to prove that “The Dragon” has earned the right to call himself champion.

Kevin Nash comes out to continue to brag and boast about Team NWO defeating Team DX last week on both RAW IS WAR and SmackDown '00. He talks about how typical it is of them to start infighting and searching to place the blame. Nash calls them all losers collectively but since “Big Sexy” is a giving person, he wants to give them another chance. Another chance to embarrass D-Generation X and the WWE on a worldwide scale.

DX and the New Age Outlaws are no doubt scheduled to face each other soon in a match to determine who was the weak link last week. Nash wants to challenge the winners of that upcoming DX vs Outlaws fight to prove that the New World Order is still superior.

Pre-Match: Steamboat awaits his opponent in the ring. Hart starts talking trash at ringside which prompts Steamboat to dash o the outside. However, Bret is able to ambush Steamboat and ram him kidney-first into the ring apron. Ricky strikes back as the WCW official restores order.
