NEXT WEEK AT NXT TAKEOVER: CHICAGO: The NXT Champion Eric Young will go one on one against No Way Jose in their championship rematch as No Way Jose continues his quest to prove that once the bell rings the party is over for his opponent.

TONIGHT ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF NXT: “The Glorious” Bobby Roode returns to NXT as part of the 2017 (on 2K19) Superstar Shakeup and he is focused on winning the NXT Championship that initially eluded him. Tonight, Roode must defend his place on the NXT rankings if he hopes for an opportunity at the NXT Championship. Unfortunately for Bobby, his opponent tonight is “Mr. Wrestling” himself, Johnny Gargano!

PREVIOUSLY ON NXT: Hideo Itami and his new surly attitude defeated Oney Lorcan (who was seeking payback) in a rematch. Afterwards, Itami sucker punched Lorcan. Not long afterwards, Kassius Ohno approached Hideo and offered him help to avoid straying further down a dishonorable path. Kassius hoped that a big tag victory against The Authors of Pain would do the trick but it only made things worse as Ohno would be the one pinned, inadvertently adding to Itami's frustrations.
