LAST NIGHT AT SUMMERSLAM: Brock Lesnar defeated Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar in a Fatal 4-Way Match to become the NEW WWE Universal Champion after pinning Samoa Joe after an F5!
SHOW OPENER PROMO
The former WWE Universal Champion Samoa Joe wonders how Brock would have fared have there not been two other Superstars in last night's match. As a matter of fact, Joe doesn't need to wonder because he already knows that Brock's b**** a** would have gone night-night. Exhibit A is WWE Great Balls of Fire where Joe submitted Lesnar. But in two weeks at No Mercy Joe will get his opportunity to get his Universal Championship back and take down Brock one on one once again because he's invoking his rematch clause!
Paul Heyman advocates for Brock as he goes back and forth with “The Samoan Submission Machine”. Actually, Paul doesn't say anything at all. Instead he lets Joe speak his peace about Brock's title win being a fluke. This ends when Brock Lesnar backs Heyman up in order to get in Joe's face briefly before he lands a hard-looking right hand, prompting a brawl. When the smoke clears, Samoa Joe looks to have gotten the better of the brawl.
IN THE OFFICE OF THE RAW GENERAL MANAGER: The WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz is on a tirade about how he should have competed on the SummerSlam main card itself and not the Kickoff. RAW GM Kurt Angle agrees and rectifies the situation by assuring Miz that the Intercontinental Championship will be defended at WWE No Mercy. And to make up for the SummerSlam Kickoff, they're going to have a Battle Royal tonight where the winner will challenge for the Intercontinental Championship next week on RAW!

Maryse congratulates Paige on retaining the RAW Women's Championship against Nia Jax at SummerSlam (Paige's third successful defense. The most out of her other four reigns). Maryse speculates that three successful title defenses may be starting to wear Paige down and Maryse is generous enough to relieve of Paige of her championship duties tonight.
Paige thanks “Mother Maryse” but she counters with an offer of her own: wipe the mat with Maryse so bad that she leaves the RAW women's division and never leave Miz's side again.

MIDDLE CARD PROMO
John Cena reveals that his RAW return is both a perk of his free agent status and part of his desire to seek out “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns, who he's hungry to face at WWE No Mercy. The two Superstars made their match official and tore each other to shreds on the microphone, with Cena knocking Reigns as a “protected,” “corporately created” knockoff of Cena himself.
Reigns replied by labeling Cena as a “part-timer” who maintains his position by holding down any young talent who might one day surpass him, while Cena got the last word by proclaiming he was only still around because Reigns hadn't stepped up enough to take his spot and that he was a better “part-time” Superstar than Reigns was on a full-time schedule.
