After SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan went against SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon's wishes by opting not to fire Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn last week, Shane called out Bryan to try and clear up the matter. Bryan made it clear that he never intended to fire Owens and Zayn and noted that RAW would immediately snag the two if they let them go. Shane understood Bryan's reasoning and although he still wasn't thrilled. As a result Shane announces that Owens’ match tonight against Randy Orton will now be No Disqualification with Zayn barred from accompanying KO.

IN THE BACKSTAGE AREA: Sami Zayn is walking with Kevin Owens and talks about the deck being stacked against them. Sami sees Daniel Bryan, the reasonable one, and wants to make sure that he's not banned from ringside. KO says that last week, Shane tried to get him fired and now he's sending him to the gallows by making tonight's match a No DQ Match. Bryan yells at Sami about making demands and says he would like to keep his GM job as well so Bryan reiterates that Sami is not allowed to accompany KO to the ring tonight.

THIS PAST SUNDAY AT WWE STARRCADE: The New Day defeated The Usos, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and Shelton Benjmain and Chad Gable to become the NEW SmackDown Tag Team Champions!

IN THE BACKSTAGE AREA: Naomi asks Charlotte Flair if she's ready for payback. Charlotte calls The Riott Squad clever for their sneak attack last week but they will not be able to escape tonight. Naomi is ready to fight side by side with the queen.

SmackDown Women's Champion Natalya is willing to put aside her issues to deal with The Riott Squad. They will not make their names off the women of Smackdown Live. Charlotte says she hopes they enjoyed their five minutes of fame because after tonight, no one will remember their names.

There will be poison gas released in a minute. The timer runs down as they look for the key to free them. Konnor tells Fandango and Tyler to save themselves. Fandango comes back and he gets his hat as the timer runs out and the gas is released.
