LAST WEEK ON SMACKDOWN LIVE: Kevin Owens was made to take on Sami Zayn with the stipulation that the winner would get to keep his job. However, the WWE Champion “The Viper” Randy Orton would be added into this match with the added stipulation that if “The Viper” wins then both KO and Sami would be shown the door...which is exactly what happened!

AJ Styles brings up John Cena's free agent status and how technically that makes AJ the true #1 contender for the WWE Championship and thus makes his case that he should be added to the WWE Championship Match at the Royal Rumble! After all, Styles is sure that the WWE Universe wouldn't mind some spice being thrown into Orton vs Cena #327.

The WWE Champion Randy Orton comes out and tells AJ to save his TED talk because Orton doesn't care who's put in front of him at the Royal Rumble and management told Randy before coming out here that they were in agreement with Styles. So at the Royal Rumble, Randy's going to kill two birds with one stone. John is going to lose his title rematch and AJ will fail at his opportunity!

Despite The Usos' still being ranked as #1 contenders, they know that they don't deserve a title match after last week. However, that's why they're challenging The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble anyway. Because if The Usos can beat The New Day in a Two out of Three Falls Tag Team Match then they'd prove without a doubt that they still have the SmackDown Live tag division on lock. The New Day accept their challenge.
