With what could be his greatest challenge as WWE Champion fast approaching, Randy Orton declared that he is always in control of his destiny (even in a match that doesn't require him to be pinned or submitted to lose his title). “The Viper” states that he can and has defeated any of his Fastlane opponents in one-on-one competition.

Sami Zayn appears on the scene to remind Randy that he defeated “The Apex Predator” this past November to make it onto Team SmackDown Live at Survivor Series despite all of Shane McMahon's machinations. This is evidence that Sami has what it takes to take down “The Viper” at Fastlane and become the new WWE Champion!

Still upset about his exclusion on the SmackDown Live Top 10 List, Jinder Mahal calls out the WWE United States Champion Xavier Woods and presents him with Woods' own ballot that shows that he only voted for himself instead of being impartial and voting for “The Modern Day Maharajah” who clearly belongs at the top of SmackDown Live's list.

Woods defends his actions and states that the gold around his waist signifies that Woods is one of SmackDown Live's best as opposed to Jinder's present position of holding no WWE gold.
