Aleister Black defeated adversity at NXT Takeover when he defeated Johnny Gargano in a No Holds Barred Match to retain the NXT Championship. However, a new threat has emerged in the form of Tommaso Ciampa.

“The Blackheart” interrupted Black to let it be known that he doesn't buy into the champion's reputation, noting that while Black “barely got by” Johnny Gargano, Ciampa beat not, but TWO Superstars in the form of Lars Sullivan and Kassius Ohno! More importantly, Black has something Ciampa wants: the NXT Championship.

“The Striking Man from Amsterdam” showed no trepidation, stating that he's ready for Ciampa's challenge if NXT General Manager William Regal signs off on it while Ciampa warned that he needs only one opportunity to destroy the mystique of Aleister Black and claim the NXT Championship.

Declaring themselves as the rightful challengers to the NXT Tag Team Championship, the trio surrounded the new champions until Ricochet rushed in to even the odds. NXT GM William Regal then ruled that the two teams would face off in six-man tag team action!
