Mr. McMahon is in the middle of an address to the WWE Universe when he is interrupted by Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat who steps up to the chairman, saying that the canvas is made for competition, not as a platform to bolster a megalomaniac. Mr. McMahon asks Steamboat about his WrestleMania 32 match before “realizing” that Ricky isn't even on the card.

Ever the “benevolent boss”, Mr. McMahon offers Steamboat a position as part of his Corporation to help him carry his bags and watch his back. “The Dragon” turns him down and gets in the chairman's face with silent intensity. This prompts Mr. McMahon to give Ricky an offer: If he can beat Mr. McMahon tonight then Steamboat will be offered a position in any WrestleMania 32 match that he desires [outside of the WWE Championship (Smoking Skull) match].

LAST WEEK ON SMACKDOWN '00: Christian defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts who was looking to make an example out of “Captain Charisma” as a message to Edge who had recently defeated “The Snake”! An interesting tidbit was that Roberts actually shook Christian's hand after the bout. Is the beginning of a change of attitude for Jake?

SHOW CLOSER PROMO

Jake “The Snake” Roberts reiterates how when a snake chases you, you can only kick it away a few times before it ultimately sinks its teeth into your flesh. Christian and his pal Edge can run from him all that they want but Jake won't stop until they are both dealt with. When Jake shook Christian's hand, it wasn't out of respect or a change of heart. “The Snake” was counting Christian's fingers.

Jake congratulates Edge on capturing the WWE Championship (Smoking Skull) and asks him to keep it nice and shiny so it looks great after Roberts dispatches of Edge's pal Christian and “The Snake” comes a-callin'. And Roberts says that he wants to deal with Christian at WrestleMania 32.

Christian takes a moment to consider and weigh the option of facing Jake Roberts (who grows increasingly irritated by this) in a rematch at WrestleMania (since Christian has already defeated him) but ultimately accepts the challenge under one condition. Jake must put The Undertaker '91's urn ,that he's been using to control The Undertaker '91, on the line and to keep the aforementioned Dead Man from being summoned, Christian wants Roberts inside of a Steel Cage!

Jake mentions that he is actually beginning to enjoy dealing with Christian tonight but offers to up the ante even further by suggesting that they go from a Steel Cage to a full-blown Hell in a Cell Match, a match that Jake was bred for and a match that should appeal to Christian's high-flying, daredevil, career-ending car crash sensibilities. Christian, with an all-serious expression, accepts the deal and the match is set: Christian versus Roberts with The Undertaker '91's urn on the line inside of Hell in a Cell!

Roberts goes for a cheap shot which sparks a brawl that Roberts gets the better of!
