After so many injuries and setbacks, Hideo Itami finds himself ranked as the #3 contender for the NXT Championship. So close yet so far away from the NXT mountaintop. Coming up at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II, the NXT Champion Samoa Joe is currently scheduled to face the man that defeated Itami at NXT TakeOver: The End, “The King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura...IF Nakamura is still #1 contender by then. Itami has asked what becomes of Nakamura if Itami defeats him in a rematch.

Enter Finn Balor. Another NXT Superstar who experienced a jarring defeat at NXT TakeOver: The End and looking for redemption. Balor has challenged his old friend, Hideo, to a match tonight. If Hideo wins then Hideo gets his rematch against Nakamura. If Finn wins then it will be him who challenges Nakamura for the #1 Contender's spot.

With their NXT TakeOver: The End victory against #DIY barely two weeks behind them, can the NXT Tag Team Champions American Alpha defend the NXT Tag Team Championships tonight against The Authors of Pain?

Footage is shown of Carmella defeating Peyton Royce via pinfall with her feet on the ropes. The Iconic Duo have since been very outspoken about that result and they reason that the only thing that outcome proved was that Peyton was truly superior because Carmella couldn't get it done fair and square. As far as tonight goes, Billie Kay has promised her bestie that Carmella's BFF, Ember Moon won't be a problem for them after tonight.

NXT Women's Champion Nia Jax comes out and takes in her big moment. She defeated the unbeatable Asuka at NXT TakeOver: The End and won the NXT Championship and last week she retained her NXT Championship against “The Empress of Tomorrow” thus putting Asuka in her rear-view for good. Nia addresses the NXT locker room and tells all of them that a new unbeatable champion is in town and nobody will be able to stop “The Irresistible Force”!
