Since WWE Money in the Bank, the WWE United States Champion, “The Viper” Randy Orton and Chris Jericho have squared off in two one on one encounters. Each Superstar has one victory a piece and tonight on Monday Night RAW, RAW commissioner Stephanie McMahon has made made a rubber match to break the tie as we approach the WWE United States Championship match at WWE Battleground. Furthermore, a deal has been brokered to keep the WWE United States Championship on RAW while Randy Orton has been drafted to SmackDown Live. As a result, “The Apex Predator” will be allowed to appear on RAW and represent the blue brand as long as he holds the WWE United States Championship. After losing another handicap match to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, is Orton ripe for the picking tonight?

Chris Jericho comes out and tells the WWE Universe not to dwell on Randy Orton defeating him on RAW last week and tells them to dwell on when Jericho defeated Orton two weeks ago in Biloxi, Mississippi and to dwell on this Sunday when he beats Orton once again. Only this time, Jericho's getting back his United States Championship. Jericho wants to raise the stakes for Sunday. He proposes that whoever wins the match tonight earns the right to name the stipulation for the match. Stephanie McMahon appears and approves this idea.

Charlotte vs Sasha Banks & Nia Jax

RAW General Manager, Mick Foley congratulates Sasha on making a statement and congratulates Nia on her RAW debut. He regrettably adds that if Sasha thought that the beatdown would lead to a WWE Women's Championship then she is mistaken. However, Mick wonders how Sasha and Nia would fare in a fair tag team match. So Foley makes a tag team match for WWE Battleground, “The Boss” Sasha Banks and Nia Jax against the WWE Women's Champion Charlotte and...(Foley is interrupted by Nia who tells Foley that they'll deal with Charlotte and her little protege, Dana Brooke at Battleground. And after they've left two beaten and battered bodies in their wake, Mick will have no choice but to award the destruction with a WWE Women's Championship match.)

Karl Anderson comes out and calls out Roman Reigns. He says that now that Roman is on a slump after losing the WWE Championship, it's time for Anderson to capitalize by defeating Reigns and Rollins for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Battleground. Roman comes out and humors Anderson but offers him a preview tonight of how things are really going to go at Battleground in the form of a one on one challenge.

Jack Swagger approaches Titus O'Neil backstage who has a match with “The Beast” Brock Lesnar tonight and tells Titus that he's got his back tonight if Brock or Paul try anything funny. Titus appreciates the sentiment and will be happy to have him there but says that he's got the physical attributes to hold his own in a heavyweight fight against Brock.

Post-Match: Brock gets to the ramp when he stops and decides to turn around to grab a steel chair from under the ring. He slides into the ring where he wails away on Titus with the chair. “The Beast” continues to look unstoppable as he heads into his match against Jack Swagger at WWE Battleground.

Footage is shown of Gallows and Anderson defeating The New Day last week on SmackDown Live to become the #1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship currently held by Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

It appears that Chris Jericho has chosen his stipulation for WWE Battleground. Does this spell doom for United States Champion Randy Orton this Sunday?
