LAST WEEK ON THE SEASON FINALE OF NITRO: Goldberg defeated Hollywood Hulk Hogan to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship '88!

SHOW OPENER PROMO

Mr. McMahon kicks off Nitro and saying “LET'S GIVE IT UP FOR HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN!” for his dominant WCW title reign. He brags about bringing “real stars” to WCW before introducing one more to WCW.

Mr. McMahon zones out, reminiscing about a story of a sort of falling out he had with André The Giant that led to “The Eighth Wonder of the World” showing up on WCW TV. Although André never signed with WCW, Mr. McMahon facetiously and maliciously presents WCW with the giant that they wanted to steal from the WWE.

André The Giant (with his manager and WCW Alumni Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) puts the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion '88, Goldberg, on notice before Goldberg interrupts and stares down Andre to close the segment.

INTERVIEW: When asked what else he has in store for tonight's season premiere of Nitro, Mr. McMahon says that with Goldberg taken care of, Sting '91 is next on his list. He announces that the WCW United States Champion, Sting '91 will compete tonight against a WWE Hall of Famer and WCW Alumni!

Tonight, Scott Hall's WCW Hardcore Championship will be on the line because when McMahon thinks of hardcore he doesn't think of Scott Hall, he thinks of the inaugural WWE Hardcore Champion!

THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN PAID FOR BY THE NEW WORLD ORDER: SCOTT HALL: "Hey yo… looks like ol’ Vin-Man’s got this big idea, right? ‘Inject real stars into WCW Nitro. Well Vinny, don’t sweat it, chico… because the real stars? They’ve been here the whole time. They’re called the New World Order."

KEVIN NASH: "Yeah, and you don’t need some corporate suit up in Stamford to tell you what ratings look like, big man. Nitro is our show. Always has been, always will be. And if Vince McMahon wants to play god with WCW, then hey… let him. Because every time he tries, it just makes our army a little bit stronger."

HALL: "See, it’s about time the nWo added a little more muscle. Somebody who don’t just talk tough, but fights tough. Somebody who’s got no problem steppin’ in the ring with guys like Flair, like Goldberg, like Vinny's WWE Legends."

NASH: "Somebody to fight for money, and to fight for us. Which is why tonight, the newest soldier in this black-and-white movement is walkin’ through that curtain."

HALL: "Allow me to reintroduce Big Bubba Rogers. The man’s been cashin’ checks and breakin’ necks longer than most of these wannabes even laced up their boots. And now, he’s doin’ it with the nWo."

NASH: "Big Bubba is here to make sure the nWo gets what belongs to us. And believe me, that’s not just the world title… that’s the whole damn company."

HALL: "Hey, Vin-Man… you wanted to ‘inject real stars’ into WCW? Congratulations, mang. You just gave the nWo another reason to take this place all the way over. Big Bubba Rogers is here. And that’s one more piece in our game."

The WCW World Heavyweight Champion '88, Goldberg, and Ric Flair ’88's (who defeated Sting '99 last week on Nitro) contract signing for next week’s title defense takes place. Ric cuts a classic “WCW needs its champ, not this bald meathead” promo. André looms in the background like an ominous cloud over both men. Things break down as Goldberg launches an attack on Flair which sets off a big brawl that Flair gets the better of!
