WCW Monday Nitro
April, Week 4, Year 1

Match #2

It appears as though the ECW TV show has been canceled for the time being. The WWE has recently enforced talent exclusivity clauses in Superstar's contracts that prevent Superstars from appearing on the main WWE and WCW shows as well as on ECW. This talent exclusivity enforcement left ECW with approximately three Superstars on their roster (Kurt Angle '06, John Cena '06 & Rob Van Dam '06). As a result, ECW has reached a deal with the WWE Attitude brand as well as WCW that will see those ECW Superstars appear on both of those shows.

Match #3
ECW World Television Championship
Extreme Rules Match
Chris Jericho (c) vs John Cena '06
Winner by pinfall and STILL ECW World Television Champion: Chris Jericho (Codebreaker)(3 ½ * Great)
Post: Jericho offers a condescending handshake before getting his hand smacked away by Cena.

Match #4
WCW Hardcore Championship
Falls Count Anywhere Match
British Bulldog (c) vs Diamond Dallas Page '98
Winner by pinfall and STILL WCW Hardcore Champion: British Bulldog (Running Powerslam)

Match #5
WCW World Television Championship
Triple Threat Match
Big Show (c) vs Goldberg '98 vs Bam Bam Bigelow
Winner by pinfall and STILL WCW World Television Champion: Big Show (KO Punch on Bigelow)

Match #6
Tag Team Match
The Hart Foundation (Bret “Hitman” Hart '98 & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) vs nWo Wolfpac (Sting '98 & Kevin Nash)(w/Scott Hall & Ted DiBiase)
Winners by DQ: The Hart Foundation

The commentators discuss how there have been rumors of a WWE invasion for some time now. However, not much has surfaced since news of this rumor broke.

Match #7
Non-Title
Normal Match
William Regal vs Chris Jericho
Pre: Regal makes his entrance and is chop blocked and attacked from behind by Ric Flair.
Result: No Contest

The brawl ends up in the ring as an official rushes in restore order and have these two settle things in a match tonight.

Match #7
Non-Title
Normal Match
William Regal vs Ric Flair
Winner by submission: Ric Flair (Figure Four Leg Lock)(3 ½ * Great)

Ric Flair has defeated the current WCW World Heavyweight Champion. However, he owes this victory largely in part to attacking Regal from behind. Can Flair get it done fair and square in their championship rematch at WCW Slamboree?

NEWS

BAD INTENTIONS
Ric Flair '91 attacked WCW World Heavyweight Champion, William Regal before their match, determined to hurt his opponent!

ECW ARRIVES
Following the cancellation of ECW, Kurt Angle '06, John Cena '06 and Rob Van Dam '06 have arrived on WCW Nitro. They will be representing ECW as they compete on the WCW battlefield.

CONTRACTS CHANGING LANDSCAPES
Several Superstars will no longer be competing in WCW due to contractual exclusivity clauses kicking in. For example, the WCW World Television Champion, The Big Show's talent contract is with the WWE main roster. WWE officials have been lax with their Superstars appearing on shows such as Nitro and ECW up until this point. Now with these contract enforcements, most Superstars will only compete for their main brand barring unforseen circumstances. This move has rendered several WCW championships vacant and has left several contender's spots open.
