LAST WEEK ON SMACKDOWN LIVE: Carmella was victorious in a Fatal 4-Way Main Event Match to become the #1 contender for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship as she is scheduled to challenge Becky Lynch at WWE Hell in a Cell!

NEXT: Shinsuke Nakamura has been looking to take down the next Superstar on his way back to #1 contender's status for the WWE Championship and that Superstar next in line is Rusev. However, Nakamura must get past Aiden English who picked up a big upset victory against Nakamura last week if Rusev is to accept his challenge.

Kevin Owens calls out SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and takes exception with Shane calling him a coward following his heinous actions over the past several weeks, and he let it be known that he actually respects and likes Mr. McMahon before asking Shane to consider what KO would do to someone he doesn't like inside Hell in a Cell.

Sami Zayn then appeared to try to reason with his former friend, as he was afraid that KO was about to cross a line that there would be no coming back from if he went through the match with Shane at Hell in a Cell.

Owens assured Zayn that he was totally in control and that he believed the only reason Zayn was out here was to try and take away some of Owens’ shine. KO claimed that nothing Sami has ever done in his life has had the impact that his headbutting Mr. McMahon in his own office did. Zayn fired right back by calling out Owens’ path to success and said that when he reached the top one day he would do it his way and not like a piece of trash.

This almost led to the two rivals coming to blows, but SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan arrived to make Owens vs. Zayn for later in the night.

Next week “The Viper” Randy Orton will challenge the WWE Champion John Cena inside Hell in a Cell! Orton talks about Cena being a free agent, appearing on SmackDown Live and RAW respectively and getting into it with Roman Reigns who is challenging John for the WWE Championship this Sunday at No Mercy which is merely one week removed from Orton's own WWE Championship match at Hell in a Cell. Orton warns Cena that if his hubris costs Randy his title opportunity and the WWE Championship ends up hostage on RAW then John will be very sorry.

John Cena comes out and tells Randy not to worry because Cena isn't planning on losing to either Roman Reigns or Randy Orton.

RECENTLY ON SMACKDOWN LIVE: It appears that the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos, have had The New Day's number, as they have bested the positivity train on several occassions now. Still, The New Day refuse to just roll over. They know in their bones that they're the team on SmackDown Live to unseat The Usos.

IN THE OFFICE OF THE SMACKDOWN LIVE GENERAL MANAGER: SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan tells The New Day that he cannot give them another non-title match against The Usos as much as Bryan himself would love to see it again. However, Bryan tells The New Day that if they can win tonight then he will give them a championship opportunity at Hell in a Cell!

WWE.COM EXCLUSIVE: A bout between Mojo Rawley and Sin Cara was cancelled earlier tonight but SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan needs a team to take on The New Day and Mojo and Sin Cara fit the bill. While Sin Cara takes on all-comers, Mojo was less than thrilled, citing how he just got rid of dead weight and wasn't looking forward to this but then promised to outshine Sin Cara while taking down The New Day.

Aiden English introduced “The Super Athlete” and Rusev proudly walked to the ring as the Bulgarian national anthem was sung by “The Drama King” himself.

“The Bulgarian Brute” ascended a podium as “The Mozart of Mayhem” gave the floor to the Mayor of Rusev's hometown, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Mayor stressed how great it will be when Rusev brings the WWE Championship home to Plovdiv.

Ziggler surveyed Roode, and after declaring that “The Glorious One” was everything that was wrong with WWE, accepted the match.
