(WCW Owner Mr. McMahon appears on the Nitro stage )

(The camera focuses on the WCW Monday Nitro set, and suddenly, the familiar music of Mr. McMahon hits. The WCW fans boo as Mr. McMahon stands on the stage wearing his signature scowl.

MR. McMAHON: “Well, well! Look what we've got here. WCW Monday Nitro. Let me tell you something, folks, Vince McMahon isn't impressed. Not in the slightest.

Week after week, I've been watching and I've seen a gross lack of competition. It's almost like you all forgot what true entertainment is all about!

(The WCW faithful chant "WCW!" defiantly.)

So I've decided to do something about it. I'm injecting a lethal dose of the WWE into WCW. That's right, my own creation is coming to Nitro. You should be thanking me, really, because you're about to witness a show like you've never seen before!

(The WCW faithful respond with boos and disbelief.)

Ladies and gentlemen, you're about to see some very familiar faces among the Legends, Hall of Famers, and Superstars from the WWE. They're going to invade your precious Nitro and then you'll realize what entertaining competition looks like!

(Mr. McMahon pauses, soaking in the boos.)

So, buckle up, WCW! You're in for a wild ride. You should appreciate me for bringing a much-needed spark to this listing ship. Get ready to see your so-called heroes get run over by the WWE juggernaut!”

(Mr. McMahon exits the stage, leaving the WCW fans buzzing with uncertainty.)

LAST MONTH ON NITRO: “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair '91 defeated Kurt Angle '01 to win the vacant WCW United States Championship!

NEXT: With no outright contenders for the WCW United States Championship, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair '91 will defend the WCW United States Title in an Open Challenge!

SHOW OPENER PROMO

RIC FLAIR '91: “WOO! Tonight, I stand before you as WCW's stylin', profilin', limousine-ridin', jet-flyin', kiss-stealin', wheelin' and dealin' 91-93 World Heavyweight, United States AND Hardcore Champion! I am a symbol of excellence, and ain't nobody gonna take the WCW United States Championship away from “The Nature Boy” tonight!

(Suddenly, Eddie Guerrero's music hits, and the crowd erupts as Latino Heat struts towards Flair, a confident grin on his face.)

EDDIE GUERRERO: “Hold on a second, ese! You're talkin' about being WCW Hardcore Champion, but let me tell you, there's a little somethin' missing in that equation - Latino Heat!

(Flair raises an eyebrow, intrigued but dismissive.)

A while back, mi compadres, The Filthy Animals, tried to get that hardcore gold from Terry Funk but they fell short. But tonight, I'm standin' here, and I'm challenging you, Ric, to put that WCW Hardcore Championship on the line against me!

See, Ric, I respect you, I really do. But tonight, I want to do this for mi familia, for Rey, for K-Dawg and for every Latino out there. I want to show the world that Eddie Guerrero can be as hardcore as anyone!”

(Flair smirks, looking Eddie up and down.)

FLAIR '91: “Eddie! I couldn't care less! This right here (points to the WCW Hardcore Championship) is one of “The Nature Boy's” pride and joys. You want a shot at it? You're gonna have to bring more than just passion, mi amigo!”

(Eddie steps closer, locking eyes with Flair.)

EDDIE: “Ric, you're a Legend, no doubt about it. But tonight, I'm stepping up, and I'm stepping into that hardcore realm against you. I want that match, Ric, not for disrespect, but for honor, for familia, and for the legacy of “Latino Heat”!”

(Flair pauses, a sly smile forming on his face.)

FLAIR '91: “Well, “Latino Heat”, if you want a piece of “The Nature Boy” and this WCW Hardcore Championship, you've got it. But remember, to be the man, you gotta beat the man. WOO!”

(Scott Hall is stands, cool and collected. Toothpick in mouth.)

RENEE YOUNG: “Scott, tonight you have a huge opportunity to challenge Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. What are your thoughts heading into this match?”

SCOTT HALL: “Hey yo! Let me tell ya somethin'. Big Kev softened up Stone Cold and tonight, it's my turn. Austin might be the champ, but he hasn't put the gold on the line against “The Bad Guy”.

Stone Cold, you've beaten 'em all, but you haven't beaten the man who brought the nWo to the dance. You see, we're not just about taking over, we're about takin' gold. And tonight, it's not about if I can beat you, it's about when.

(Hall takes a toothpick out of his mouth and flicks it away.)

Austin, you can call yourself the toughest S.O.B. in WCW, but I've been layin' them down with the Outsider's Edge for years. And tonight, after I carve you up, and you feel that mat under your back and the ref counts three, you'll know “The Bad Guy” finally took what belongs to him!

This ain't a game. It's the big leagues, and in the big leagues, there's only room for one champ. And that champ is gonna be Scott Hall. So, Steve, better lace 'em up tight, 'cause tonight, you're gonna find out why I'm “The Bad Guy”, and why The nWo is takin' over!”

(Hall tosses the mic aside, and walks off confidently as the camera fades out, leaving the WCW Universe eager for the championship match.)

STAT: The WCW World Heavyweight Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin holds ten successful title defenses with victories over Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Sting, Mr. McMahon and Kevin Nash!

BYRON SAXTON: “Stone Cold Steve Austin, tonight you defend your WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Scott Hall, the last challenger from the nWo. What are your thoughts heading into this match?”

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN: “Well, you see, Scott Hall's been runnin' his mouth, talkin' 'bout how he's gonna take this title from ol' Stone Cold. But let me make one thing crystal clear: Stone Cold Steve Austin ain't gonna let that happen!

Ten successful title defenses, son. That's a record that speaks for itself. Scott Hall, you might be nWo 4-life, but tonight, you step in the ring with the toughest S.O.B. in WCW!

Kevin Nash tried and he failed. Now, it's your turn, “Bad Guy”. You can call yourself “The Bad Guy” all you want, but Stone Cold Steve Austin is the baddest S.O.B. walkin' God's green earth!

Tonight, when that bell rings, I'm gonna open up a can of whoop-ass on Scott Hall like he's never seen before! The Stone Cold Stunner is locked and loaded, so get ready for a hell of a fight,”Bad Guy”, because in the end, it's not gonna be too sweet for ya. And that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold said so!”
