The current list of challengers for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship includes three or four contenders. Among them is the number one contender, Minoru Suzuki as well as the man who submitted the then-champion Kenny Omega in a December tag team match, Katsuyori Shibata, who contends that he is still owed a title shot despite Kenny Omega losing the title to Hiroshi Tanahashi.

During the Road to the New Beginning tour: EVIL and Michael Elgin exchanged victories over each other in tag team action with EVIL getting the last victory in. SANADA now searches for a win of his own against Elgin tonight.

In addition to that, it appears as though there is some inner competition brewing within LIJ as Tetsuya Naito finds himself outranked by both EVIL and SANADA which is an awkward position for the leader of one of New Japan's biggest stables to be in. Pinning or submitting Michael Elgin would thrust Naito right back up near where he should be.

Lastly, after defeating Gedo last week at The New Beginning to successfully defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in their Wrestle Kingdom 11 rematch, KUSHIDA was challenged to an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title match at the NJPW 45th Anniversary Show in two weeks.

Match #4
Eight-Man Tag Team Match
Michael Elgin, Manabu Nakanishi, KUSHIDA & Ryusuke Taguchi vs Los Ingobernables de Japon (SANADA, Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI)
Winners: Los Ingobernables de Japon (SANADA, Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI)
Method: Submission from SANADA on Elgin
Finish: Scissors Sleeper
Time: 25:28
Rating: 89%
