Opener Promo
Former
WWE Champion “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose comes out to the
ring and talks about the hell of a match that he had with AJ Styles
and although Dean once again is no longer the WWE Champion, he still
has a rematch clause in his contract and he tells AJ that he's coming
to get his “baby” back. Ambrose is suddenly and unexpectedly
interrupted by John Cena who expresses his interest in facing the
former WWE Champion and “Lunatic Fringe” in a match. A promo
battle ensues and Cena likens Ambrose to an abandoned , broken down,
eyesore of a building in a neighborhood that wants nothing to do with
it. Dean dares that “neighborhood” to bring their wrecking balls
to try to knock him down to see how that ends up working for them.
Cena ends the segment by saying that he's sure that they'll be facing
off soon. Cena is on the ascent and Ambrose is once again on the
descent and that wins him the promo battle.

The
Director of Operations Kane comes out to the ring and says that while
the SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and the SmackDown Live
General Manager Daniel Bryan are rather benevolent leaders, Kane
operates under different auspices. He is the emissary of The
Authority and he will inflict their will on SmackDown Live and their
will is simply whatever is “best...for business”. Dolph Ziggler
tried to rise against The Authority but was quickly dealt with by
Kane. He warns the SmackDown Live to let that be a lesson to them.
During
their time in NXT, The Ascension were considered to be the most
feared and dominant tag team in the NXT roster. The Ascension were
considered to be the greatest NXT Tag Team Champions of their time,
holding the longest running NXT Tag Team Championship reign at a
total of 344 days. Tonight, they go one on one with the current NXT
Tag Team Champions, American Alpha.

John
Cena comes out and talks about how after his defeat to The Miz last
month, Miz came out to the ring for weeks on end bragging and
boasting about beating Cena as if he just won a world championship.
Now Cena defeated The Miz and John is out here to say that this is
simply what he does. He comes out to this ring, gives it everything
he's got and then does it all over again because this is his life and
he loves every minute of it. If Cena falls down, like he did last
month to The Miz, Cena simply gets right back up and asks for more,
and he did and he beat The Miz at Battleground.
The
undrafted Heath Slater is backstage looking for Shane McMahon or
Daniel Bryan when he runs into Kane who threatens to forcefully
remove Slater from the premises. Slater pleads his case and Kane
tells Slater that opportunity awaits him in the ring. An overjoyed
Slater thanks the Director of Operations and tells him that he won't
regret it.

The
WWE United States Championship has been drafted to RAW in the WWE
Draft. However, the WWE United States Champion “The Viper” Randy
Orton has been drafted to SmackDown Live. As a result, Randy Orton is
now on an excursion to RAW representing SmackDown Live as the United
States Champion. If Randy were to lose the United States Championship
then that would see the end of his RAW excursion.

The
NEW WWE Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles comes out and thanks
Dean Ambrose for the heck of a match that they had at Battleground.
Here he is again as the WWE Champion and it feels phenomenal. Styles
is interrupted by “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin who talks about
how the spotlight should be on him because he is the quintessential
WWE Superstar and therefore that WWE Championship belongs to him.
Styles tells Corbin that he's barking up the wrong tree because Baron
may be a big guy but he's certainly not on AJ's level. Corbin informs
him that the Director of Operations Kane has named Corbin the #1
contender for the WWE Championship and adds that he'll be seeing AJ
real soon and taking that WWE Championship. Styles ends up winning
the promo battle.
