SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan talk about how SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity for WWE Superstars. After watching the RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and the RAW General Manager Mick Foley give talented competitors like Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater an opportunity, SmackDown Live has decided to give Heath Slater an opportunity of their own. If Slater can win his match tonight then they will sign him on to the SmackDown Live roster. They wish Slater good luck and hope that the WWE Universe enjoy the show.

The WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews is interviewed and is asked about what's next for him now that he's put Alberto Del Rio in his rear view mirror. Apollo talks about how it seems as though his momentum has increased even more since the WWE Draft. First he defeated Ryback and took him out of the picture, then he won the Golden Opportunity Battle Royal that ultimately led to his victory over Del Rio for the Intercontinental Championship. Apollo concludes by stating that he is a fighting champion and is ready for whoever WWE officials throw his way.

Middle Card Promo

The Director of Operations, Kane, comes out to the ring and has a public message for the WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews. First, Kane congratulates Crews on his big victory over Del Rio last week at Battleground and again on SmackDown Live. After the compliments are doled out Kane wonders what will happen if Apollo Crews endures some pressure. Is Apollo Crews a champion that overcomes adversity? Will Apollo Crews continue to mow down everyone in his path? Kane surmises that if Apollo is truly the rising Superstar that he is made out to be then surely Apollo wouldn't mind a match against Kane. Apollo comes out and says that Kane would definitely be the biggest test yet in his career. He accepts Kane's challenge and looks forward to rising even higher with another victory over a former WWE Champion.

The Miz welcomes everyone to the most see talk show in WWE history, MizTV. Miz welcomes Edge to the show and rather than talking about Edge's storied career, Miz focuses on the incident where Edge tried to make himself relevant a few years ago but literally wound up beneath the boot of The Authority. Miz talks about how Edge deserved it for trying to steal the spotlight that wasn't on him anymore. Miz says that it's exactly what Edge is trying to do right now by taking the spotlight away from The Miz. A confused Edge points out that he was invited by The Miz. A promo battle ensues where Edge indicates that even though he is retired, he has absolutely no hesitancy in kicking Miz's ass tonight. Edge goes on to win the promo battle.
